A multi lodge luxury tour of Sumba links two or three lodges in one guided circuit: NIHI Sumba plus Cap Karoso (6D5N), Lelewatu plus Maringi Eco Resort (5D4N), or a West-and-East boutique route (7D6N). One private driver-guide and one 4×4 stay with you the whole way, and every total remains a quote until each lodge confirms its nights.
Which lodge circuits does Sumba Luxury Tour run?
Three signature circuits cover most requests, each with at least two nights per lodge.
| Circuit | Nights per lodge | Transfer-day drive band | Ideal traveller |
|---|---|---|---|
| NIHI Sumba + Cap Karoso, 6D5N | 3 nights NIHI (Hoba Wawi, Wanokaka, West Sumba) + 2 nights Cap Karoso (Karoso Beach, Kodi, Southwest Sumba) | Wanokaka to Kodi via the Tambolaka side: roughly 2-3 hours by 4×4, indicative | Couples and honeymooners who want both headline west-coast addresses in one trip |
| Lelewatu + Maringi Eco Resort, 5D4N | 2 nights Lelewatu (Wanokaka, West Sumba) + 2 nights Maringi (Tambolaka side, Southwest Sumba) | Wanokaka to Tambolaka: roughly 1.5-2 hours, indicative | Families and purpose-led travellers pairing a cliff-top villa with a hospitality-school eco stay |
| West + East boutique, 7D6N | 3 nights at one West Sumba lodge (NIHI, Lelewatu or Cap Karoso) + 3 nights at a Waingapu-area boutique property arranged via vetted licensed partners | Cross-island on the newly paved highway: under four hours per a 2026 investment report, a full day with stops, indicative | Ikat collectors, photographers and second-time visitors who want Prailiu, Rende, Tanggedu and Walakiri |
The West Sumba anchor for the 7D6N follows your dates: NIHI for its own equine programme and Spa Safari, Cap Karoso for Weekuri Lagoon, Mandorak and Ratenggaro within a short hop, Lelewatu for the Wanokaka Pasola grounds in February.
When should you switch lodges instead of staying put?
A lodge switch costs half a day of touring, so it must unlock experiences the current lodge cannot reach comfortably.
- Switch when the next day’s experiences sit more than about 90 minutes away. Weekuri Lagoon and Pero beach from Wanokaka make a long round trip; from Cap Karoso they are a morning.
- Switch between two big days, never before one. Do not move lodges on a NIHI Spa Safari day, a Lapopu waterfall hike or a Pasola morning.
- Plan around Pasola. Dates are set by Rato ritual priests after Nyale sea-worm readings and are typically confirmed only 1-2 weeks ahead. Wanokaka and Lamboya usually fall in February, Gaura and Kodi in March. The official 2026 Kodi schedule (RRI, 21 January 2026) ran Homba Kalayo, Bondo Kawango and Rara Winyo on 9-11 February and Maliti Bondo Ate, Waiha and Wainyapu on 9-11 March. Treat future dates as estimates.
- Finish near your exit airport. Cap Karoso is roughly 50 minutes from Tambolaka by the resort’s own estimate; a Waingapu-area property suits an East Sumba departure via WGP.
How does Indonesia Juara Trip handle luggage, check-in timing and 4×4 continuity?
One driver-guide and one 4×4 stay with you from arrival to departure. Your luggage rides in the vehicle on switch days; nothing is couriered ahead or left in a lobby.
Check-out is typically late morning and check-in mid-afternoon, both confirmed with each property at booking; early check-in is requested, never promised. The gap becomes a planned touring block.
| Switch-day block (indicative) | What happens |
|---|---|
| 08:00-10:30 | Breakfast, one last on-property activity, bags loaded into the 4×4 |
| 10:30-11:00 | Check-out at the typical lodge window |
| 11:00-15:00 | Touring block en route: Praijing, Ratenggaro and Weekuri between NIHI and Cap Karoso; Lapopu between Lelewatu and Maringi; Waikabubak lunch, the highway and Walakiri mangrove sunset west to east |
| From 15:00 | Check-in at the next lodge, guide reconfirms the next day’s start time |
Circuits here use a luxury-tier 4×4 with cooler box and onboard Wi-Fi; vehicle days, like standard-comfort car and driver days, are quoted on request for your route, dates and guest count.
What does a multi lodge luxury tour Sumba cost?
The guided land segment (per person) and the lodge nights (each property’s published tariff) are never merged. Each line is quoted on request for your lodges, dates, guest count and inclusions.
| Component | Price | How it is billed |
|---|---|---|
| Guided land segment, 4D3N Sumba-only circuit | Quote on request | per person, by season and group size |
| Guided land segment, 6D5N circuit | Quote on request | per person, by season and group size |
| NIHI Sumba villa | Quote on request; NIHI’s rate conditions exclude a 21% government tax and service charge | per property tariff, direct booking terms |
| Lelewatu, Cap Karoso, Maringi Eco Resort | premium-boutique tier, published tariff plus tax and service | per property tariff |
A roughly 10% accommodation-based tourism levy was reported effective 1 January 2026. For reference, IndonesiaJuara’s Sumba Private Trip 4D3N is priced from USD 390 per person (8 guests) to USD 700 per person (2 guests), depending on group size, with hotel twin share, entrance fees and meals included, per its table labelled 2025, as listed on IndonesiaJuara (checked 2026-09-16). Indonesia Juara Trip’s Sumba Private Trip 6D5N is listed at USD 570–1,020 per person depending on group size (USD 1,020 for 2 guests, USD 570 for 8 guests), including twin-share hotel, entrance fees and 15 meals, in its 2025 USD price table, as listed on Indonesia Juara Trip (checked 2026-09-16). Promotional lodge offers depend on availability at booking. Until every lodge confirms, your total is a quote, not a price.
How does booking a lodge circuit work?
- Send a WhatsApp brief. Dates, party size, the lodges you want and the two or three experiences you refuse to miss.
- Lodge availability check. Indonesia Juara Trip requests your exact nights from each property at its published tariff plus tax and service, and reports which are confirmed or waitlisted.
- Circuit draft. Nights per lodge, switch day, touring blocks and vehicle tier, sequenced around Pasola or Spa Safari dates.
- Itemised written quote. Land segment per person, vehicle days, lodge nights and fees on separate lines, so nothing hides inside a bundled total.
- Deposit and flights. Wings Air and NAM Air fly Bali-Tambolaka daily in roughly 90 minutes; TransNusa announced direct Denpasar-Waingapu four times weekly in June 2026; a Tambolaka-Labuan Bajo link (Tue/Fri/Sun) launched July 2026. Schedules change, so flights are booked only against confirmed lodge nights.
- Pre-arrival brief. Hepatitis A, typhoid and tetanus protection is recommended. Under drone guidance updated January 2026, recreational drones stay 15 km from airports and 30 m from people and buildings, fly in daylight only and never over villages or ritual grounds. Guides work to Law No. 18 of 2025 and Regulation 6/2025 standards.
> Design my lodge circuit. Send your dates and lodge shortlist on WhatsApp to +62 811-9941-919 or email sales@indonesiajuara.asia. Indonesia Juara Trip is the concierge and guided-tour operator for this circuit; it does not own NIHI, Lelewatu, Cap Karoso or Maringi, books their nights at published tariffs, and issues every total as a written quote.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many nights should I spend at each lodge on a multi lodge Sumba tour?
Two nights is the floor at any lodge and three is the sweet spot for NIHI or an East Sumba base. Because check-out and check-in windows consume most of a switch day, a 6D5N circuit works best as three plus two, and a 7D6N as three plus three.
Can I combine NIHI Sumba and Cap Karoso in one guided tour without a flight?
Yes. Both sit on Sumba’s west coast, NIHI at Hoba Wawi in Wanokaka and Cap Karoso at Karoso Beach in Kodi, so the switch is an indicative 2-3 hour 4×4 drive via the Tambolaka side, filled with Praijing, Ratenggaro and Weekuri Lagoon stops. No internal flight is involved; you fly in and out of Tambolaka.
Does the same guide and 4×4 stay with us when we change lodges?
Yes. One driver-guide and one luxury-tier 4×4 are assigned for the whole circuit, from Tambolaka or Waingapu arrival to departure. Your bags stay in that vehicle on switch days. A second vehicle is only added for larger parties or bulky camera and dive equipment, and it is itemised on the quote.
Is a West-plus-East Sumba lodge circuit worth the extra drive?
For ikat and megalith interests, yes. The newly paved highway crosses the island in under four hours according to a 2026 investment report, and the drive day itself passes Praijing and Lapopu. East Sumba then adds Prailiu, Rende, Tanggedu and Walakiri, with a TransNusa Denpasar-Waingapu departure announced in June 2026 avoiding the return drive.
