What does a Sumba luxury tour price actually include?
The bottom layer is the land-only circuit: a private English-speaking guide, a private 4×4 with driver and fuel, and the day-by-day programme across West, Southwest, Central or East Sumba. The middle layer is your lodge, billed per night at the property’s own tariff. The top layer is a short list of government fees that change from year to year.
Touring is quoted per person for your dates, group size and inclusions. Your quote spells out which permits and entries sit inside that line.

What is never included in a Sumba luxury tour price?
- Flights. Wings Air and NAM Air fly Bali to Tambolaka daily in roughly 90 minutes; a Tambolaka to Labuan Bajo link (Tue/Fri/Sun) launched in July 2026; TransNusa announced direct Denpasar to Waingapu four times weekly in June 2026. Schedules change; we advise, you book.
- International airfare, visas, travel insurance with medical evacuation cover, and health preparation: Hepatitis A, typhoid and tetanus protection is recommended, so ask your doctor.
- Drone flying. Recreational drones (guidance updated January 2026) must stay 15 km from airports and 30 m from people and buildings, fly only in daylight and never over villages, temples or ritual grounds.
- Pasola timing risk. Pasola runs each February and March; Rato priests set the dates after the Nyale sea-worm readings, usually confirmed one to two weeks ahead, so Pasola-window tours carry a flexible-date clause while lodge nights stay fixed.

How much spending money do I need on a Sumba luxury tour?
Budget first for small local fees such as village and national park entries, which your written quote lists. Beyond that, cash goes to ikat purchases in Prailiu or Rende, guide and driver gratuities, and lodge extras. ATMs are sparse outside Waingapu and Tambolaka, so carry rupiah from Bali.
Is Sumba expensive to visit compared with Bali?
